ZyXEL announced WiFi/3G/4G mobile router
Need a mobile router that allows you t connect to the internet no matter what kind of connection is available? It looks like ZyXEL might have the answer for you with their new MWR222 multi-functional mobile wireless router.
The various MiFi routers have become quite popular and it looks like ZyXEL is going after this market and then some with the MWR222. For starters it's an 802.11b/g/n WiFi router, but thanks to a pair of Ethernet ports and dual USB ports, it can be connected to pretty much any type of connection to give you internet access on the move.

ZyXEL might've gotten ahead of itself a little bit by listing 3G/4G support, as both would be via the use of a USB dongle. The MWR222 has its own built-in, rechargeable battery pack which is good for two hours of usage, which doesn't really seem like much in our opinion. It also only supports 150Mbit 802.11n WiFi speeds and with 4G expected to possibly exceed this speed, we can't but wonder what ZyXEL was thinking when they created the MWR222.
Luckily ZyXEL offers a version called the MWR215 which offers 300Mbit 802.11n WiFi speeds, although it only has a single USB and Ethernet port and lacks the built in battery pack. An entry level model with 150Mbit 802.11n WiFi and battery pack is also available, but it's otherwise identical to the MWR215. The MWR222 has a MSRP of $299.99 (€199.50), the MWR215 comes in at $99.99 (€66.50) while the MWR211 should cost $199.99 (€133).
