Vodafone 360 launches with first handsets from Samsung
Vodafone has announced a new social media and app platform that the company calls 360. To go with the new service are two new Samsung handsets that goes under the name of H1 and M1, both of course offering full support for Vodafones 360.
Although the 360 service might be interesting in itself, we have a hard time seeing this as the main selling point for either handset, as it just doesn't seem to offer enough features for anyone that isn't a social media junkie. In saying that, we like the integration of contacts with various social media features and the fact that at least most, if not all of the new features of 360 will work on other handsets than the two new Samsung models.
Starting with the H1, which is the higher-end model of the two new handsets, you get a large 3.5-inch OLED touch screen, although there's no word on the screen resolution. The H1 also has 16GB of built in memory, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, a GPS receiver, a 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash and a front facing camera for video calls.
It does of course also offer HSDPA support, but no information has been provided as to what speeds are supported. The H1 measures 116x58x13mm (HxWxD) and weighs in at 134g. The battery is said to last for up to ten hours talk time. It will be available in either black or silver.

The M1 has a slightly smaller 3.2-inch TFT touch screen and 1GB of built in memory with a micro SD card for expanding it. Sadly the M1 doesn't offer WiFi, but it still offers HSDPA and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.
The M1 also has an integrated GPS receiver, but the rear camera has been downgraded to a 3 Megapixel unit without autofocus, while it too offers a front facing camera for video calls. The M1 measures 111x55x13mm (HxWxD) and weighs in at 111g and offers the same rated 10h talk time. It will be available in black, silver and red.
Both handsets feature the same UI which offers among other things a 3D address book, a rolodex style status update menu, a map utility that keeps track on where your friends are (cyber stalking anyone?), as well as allows for turn by turn navigation and a fancy camera UI with the option to shoot video and GPS tag your photos. The operating system in both handsets is based on LiMo.
No word on pricing as yet, but you can find out more details about Vodafone 360 and try out some interactive demo's of the handsets here
