Laptop Mag has gotten some hands on time with two yet unannounced models from ViewSonic, the VNB102 netbook and the VNB132 notebook. ViewSonic’s first two netbooks, the VNB100 and VNB101 have barely gone on sale, but it seems like ViewSonic is ready for more.
The VNB102 actually looks like a cheaper sibling to the VNB100 and VNB101 and its expected $349 (€237) retail price is suggesting the same. The specs seem to be the same as the VNB100, minus the ExpressCard 34 slot.

This means that you’re looking at an Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch display with 1,024×600 resolution, three USB 2.0 ports, a D-sub connector, an Ethernet port, a memory card reader and a pair of audio jacks. An additional $50 (€34) will get you a 6-cell battery as standard, rather than the default 3-cell battery.
The VNB132 is by far the more interesting of the two, as this is ViewSonic’s first attempt at a CULV based notebook. The VNB132 has a 13.3-inch display with 1,280×800 resolution. The processor choice is quite interesting, as ViewSonic has gone for the new Core 2 Duo SU7300 which is clocked at 1.3GHz and has 3MB L2 cache. The chipset in this case would be the Intel GS45 with integrated graphics.

Other features include a 320GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, HDMI, D-sub, two USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader, Ethernet, a pair of audio jacks and interestingly an ExpressCard 34 slot. ViewSonic is estimating six to eight hours of battery life for the VNB132.
Price wise you’re looking at $799 (€543), although ViewSonic will also offer a $899 (€611) model that comes with a built in optical drive, although this is likely to be a fair bit thicker. However, the interesting part here is that ViewSonic will allow you to swap the optical drive for a battery which is a feature not normally seen in this price range.
You can find a couple of videos and some more pictures of both models here
