Samsung is getting ready to launch a 12 Megapixel camera phone in Korea and it seems to be a fairly decent feature phone even excluding the 3x optical zoom of the built in camera. However, it seems like the launch has been delayed, as the poster that the details are from, suggests a launch date of the 23rd of September.
The poster suggests that it will offer HD video recording and there’s a dedicated mode dial on the handset for switching between camera modes, something that is rarely seen on mobile phones. There’s of course a zoom lever, again something you don’t see incorporated in the way it is here on your average mobile phone. There also appears to be a proper Xenon flash as well as an LED light to help with pictures taken under less than ideal light conditions.
The SCH-W880 as the handset is called also has a large 3.3-inch AMOLED touch screen display with WVGA (800×480 pixels) resolution and it’s also said to offer built in WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth support and a micro SD card slot. There also seems to be a forward facing camera for video calls.
Price wise there best guess seems to be around 1,1 million Won, which is about €630/$921. It’s also worth noting that this is a limited edition handset, but we’re not sure what that means at this moment in time in terms of how many will be made. It’s also unlikely that this handset will be available outside of Korea.
