We attended a couple of sourcing shows in Hong Kong towards the end of last week and we spotted the netbooks pictures after the break from several different suppliers and they look like a pretty straight rip-off of the MSI X-series, especially the X400, albeit smaller and with more basic features.
Every single manufacturer we spoke to claimed it was of their own design and made in their factory, although considering that most of the models we saw were identical, this is highly unlikely. The only real difference we could spot was the fact that some manufacturers had gone for a standard notebook style keyboard while others had gone for a chicklet keyboard instead.

None of the models featured onboard Ethernet as you can see from the first of the two pictures above, instead some of the suppliers offered a USB to Ethernet dongle. However, this is by design as to keep the netbooks as thin as possible.

If you look closely at the picture above, you’ll see what appears to be a mini HDMI port on the left of the USB port. It’s using the same physical connector as mini HDMI, but it is in fact a custom interface for yet another dongle which gives you a D-sub connector, much like what Asus did on the Eee PC 1008HA.

For those of you who think that the screens on netbooks are too small we can offer some good news. The model pictures above uses a 13.3-inch display, but is otherwise similar to the 12.1-inch models above.

Finally for those that aren’t keen on white netbooks, we have a black model, although this only only sports an 11.1-inch display. All models pictures here features the Atom N270 processor, the Intel 945GSE chipset and 1GB of DDR2 memory. The 12.1- and 13.3-inch models feature 1,366×768 resolution while the 11.1-inch model features 1280×800 resolution.
