MSI outs X400 and X610 thin-and-lights
MSI has refreshed its X-Slim series of thin-and-lights with two new models based on Intel and AMD platforms. The X610 is an AMD-based version of the 15.6-inch X600.
The X600 powered by an Athlon Neo MV-40 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and like its Intel based cousin, it has Radeon HD 4330 graphics with 512MB of video memory. MSI will offer it in several SKUs, with up to 4GB of memory and 640GB of storage.
It weighs 2.1kg and at under 25mm thick, it's one of the sleekest 15.6-inch notebooks on the market. Pricing and availability info has not been released yet. It is unclear if MSI will offer it with a dual-core Neo processor, which would make a lot more sense in this form factor. Coupled with the sizable screen, discrete graphics and spacious hard drive, as it could easily serve as a primary PC for undemanding consumers.

The X400 is powered by Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 or SU2700 processors and it features 2GB of memory and 320GB or 500GB of storage, depending on the SKU. It will be available with 4-cell or 8-cell batteries, with prices starting at £499 (€552/$816).
It was originally showcased in June and it is unclear why MSI didn't ship it earlier. Like the rest of MSI's X-Slim series, it's very compact and at 1.5kg it is the lightest 14-inch notebook on the market. It will be available in black or white with some colorful trim bits which we're really not crazy about.
