Huawei has announced that the company is working on further improving the speed of the HSPA+ standard which today stands at 21Mbps, although so far only a select number of network operators in a handful of countries have rolled out network support for 21Mbps.
According to today’s press release from Huawei, the Chinese company is looking at boosting speed by more than double that of what the current HSPA+ offers, as by next year, Huawei is expecting to launch an HSPA+ solution with speed of up to 56Mbps.
We’re talking commercial solutions here, rather than some sort of test networks, so the technology should already be up and running at test facilities. The best news is that operators using Huawei’s 38xx series of base stations can upgrade them to support the 56Mbps standard of HSPA+ by installing a new software version.
