On the back on an article on Forbes.com, technology and gadget sites are abuzz with the fact that Dell is said to be adding wireless charging to its Latitude Z-series of business laptops, when in fact, the article reads like it was pure speculation by the author.
We might be getting some heat for this, but the actual quote from Forbes.com reads ”and, most likely, advanced wireless capabilities, perhaps even wireless charging”. Now if that is not wild speculation by the author, then we don’t know what is.
The internet is full of speculation and rumours on a daily basis, but this story seems to have put a little bit too much trust in what is written on Forbes.com. The author also suggests that this is going to be the product that will make people pay attention to Dell’s notebook products again, although after having seen the new product range from HP earlier this week, we have a feeling that the new Latitude Z is not going to win many style points.
Pictures of the Latitude Z600 leaked back in June and unless Dell has made some radical design changes, we can’t say that we’re overly impressed. Dell has never been known for its stunning designs when it comes to notebooks, but the company does at least have a fairly good reputation for quality and it does quite often offer some excellent bargains.

What is even more confusing is that the rest of the article talks about how Dell thinks that the recession is over and how it’s the right time to launch a new business notebook, as big corporations are getting ready to start to spend again. It goes on to talk about Windows 7 and how HP has been targeting Dell, but there’s not a single other mention of the wireless charging feature which may or may not be added to the Latitude Z-series.
According to the Article, the Latitude Z-series is set to launch within the next few weeks, so we won’t have to wait too long to find out if it will actually feature wireless charging or not, but we don’t really see wireless charging as a great benefit to a 16-inch business notebook, unlike the benefit it offers to smaller hand held devices.
