Arrandale based Celeron CPU's to come in Q2'10

Intel's next generation of mobile processors with integrated graphics are expected to launch next quarter. Intel is also working on a Celeron version of the Arrandale core which is currently not set to launch until sometime in the second quarter of 2010.

We don't have a lot of details about the new Celeron processors, but it seems like the processors will at least be dual core, have integrated graphics, a lower bus speed and are destined to be clocked at below 2GHz. Currently there doesn't seem to be a Celeron specific chipset on Intel's roadmap's as so often has been the case in the past, so we can only presume that these new Celeron processors gets to share the HM55 chipset with other Arrandale based processors.

We're not sure what form factor Intel is planning for the new Celeron processors, but we have a feeling that we won't see them in the thin and light segment to start with, as we'd presume they'll get a TDP of between 25 to 35W which is a little bit on the hot side for the thinnest of notebook designs. This is despite the fact that the graphics core has been moved to the CPU packaging. The ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) Arrendale based CPU's have a TDP of a mere 18W as a comparison and we doubt the new Celeron processors will be allowed to enter this market space straight away.
